Anyone here in the TxARNG getting or know about getting mobilized for the Governor's new mission on the border announced today? Any units being called up?

Don't have any info, but saw Fox news clip this morning of Guard troops practicing riot control, and the report also said they were stringing concertina wire.

I have a good buddy who's been down there for months already. I think he is with an FA unit.

Main question is are units being called up? And, if so, in what status? There have always been opportunities for individuals to 'volunteer' for state active duty, i.e., they are out of work and need a job. Big difference. Units would be called up for SAD for hurricane duty or other natural disasters for a few days as needed. I can't envision that the Feds would 'mobilize' a unit for this based on the adversarial political climate on the issue.

The headline sounds like one thing. The actual implementation could very well be something else. LGB is not going to stop the ongoing voter registration drive which is obviously what the current flood of illegal immigration is all about.
