University Affiliated Research Center (
UARC) is a strategic
United States Department of Defense (DoD) research center associated with a university."
I know A&M does research w/ DoD funding, but I suppose it would be nice to have the UARC affiliation which would likely guarantee more research dollars. I don't think the being one should have any connection with the number of officers we produce or our history as a military college. I think this post would have made more sense being on the academics board than here. Or maybe even politics, as it wouldn't surprise me if some congressman had some pull and made one of those schools in their districts UARCs.
We are, however, one of 17 land, sea, and space grant institutions.
