Ethan graduated from Great Lakes on Friday. He was Head Yeoman for his division. Family went up to see it. Awesome ceremony, and an even better day with him being on liberty for 9 hours after that.

He flew early the next morning to Charleston for Nuke school. We stayed until Sun and made a weekend out of it. Truly one of the best weekends ever.

Congrats! Just spent the last 22 years of my life serving and it was a total honor. I had to retire for medical reasons, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I hope he takes every opportunity that they offer (education, travel, training, etc). I was in the AF, but more than happy to give him some career guidance if he ever needs it. Tell him I said thanks for taking that step to serve this great nation.

I know who your son is and was pleased to see the Facebook pics of him graduating basic. Great for you and him.

Adam,

I wanted to give you a shout out and congratulate you on instilling pride and patriotism in your son. My oldest daughter is shipping out for Navy boot in June. She's headed to Nuke school after boot. The girl is a brain when it comes to physics and math so, I believe she will do fine.

The thing that kind of worries me just a hair....

She was contacted and interviewed, by a recruiter in Dallas, to become one of the first enlisted women on a sub. She accepted the offer/challenge. I have no idea how hard sub duty is but, from my former squid co-worker, it can be a fairly tough gig.

I'll book mark this page and let you guys know how it goes.

TTU Army,

Congrats on your daughter having the smarts to ship to ship to Great Lakes IL in June and not February!

Seriously, it takes courage for anyone to enlist, but to do so with the goal of being the first woman in the Navy to serve on a sub... That's extraordinary. It speaks volumes of your daughter and her upbringing.

I highly recommend attending the graduation ceremony at GL, by the way.

I will give a scouting report on Charleston after we visit my son at Nuke School this summer.
