What's it to you Snake? Was a fart off from F-2 fish directed at Center Pole Company, C-1, who had a snake on their outfit sign/flag.

They took pride in saying it with kind of a snarl.

I always thought was pretty funny too.

Later in life, I saw cruise patch from HMLA-169 that was kind of the same thing. "We hate each other, but we hate you more!"

http://www.corpsofcadets.org/outfit-genealogy-since-1876/ Hopefully this doesn't spoil the fun for y'all, but it's a pretty neat resource related to all of this.

quote:
ABATTBQ87 - There were no individual outfit hump-its in the band in the 80's. B Company had the "streetfighters" nickname, but that was it.

We were the Fightin Texas Aggie Band, period.
Now that's interesting. Fall '88, we had the outfit hump it of:
"B-Company, Hell Bent Street Fighters - what's it to ya Corps Turd?"

However, the only time we used it was in intramural athletics and maybe Bloody Cross or something like that. On the Quad we always used the Aggie Band hump-it.

As far as band outfit nicknames:

A-Company was "Wolf Pack" at least by 1989.
B-Company Street Fighters
A-Battery - I don't remember
B-Battery was "Wild Men" at least by 1988.

So here's a question...when did outfit nicknames evolve? "Back in the Day" they were "A Troop Cavalry" or whatever. When did people start calling them "Animal A-Troop" or whatever their nickname was? And when did that become more official?

For instance, as I said above, Dad's "C CO INF" in 1946 was known to the cadets as "Bloody C", but I doubt that it was listed as such in the Longhorn/Aggieland as "Old Army Cock Company C-2" would be today.

Battling B Infantry
Spider D Infantry
Along with A Infantry, these units were in Dorm 3 except for one year in the northwest dorms near Sbisa. Every cadet was issued an M-1 rifle. Capt. Byron Stone of Spider D was killed in Viet Nam. I've been told that he was the first Aggie killed in Viet Nam. Jim Verba of B was also killed in Viet Nam.
Army branch designations went out beginning in the 1959-60 school year.
