How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
I had dinner with my Grandpa last night and interesting enough, he started talking a little bit about World War 2. In my 26 years, my grandfather has rarely talked about WWII and I have never known if it would be appropriate for me to ask him about it. My grandfather fought in the Pacific and after Okinawa, he told me that a Typhon came in and all the navy boats moved out to sea, leaving him and the other soliders on the island. Found this interesting as none of the WWII documentaries I have watched mention anything of this although it is probably more common knowledge among WWII buffs.

My question is, is there a database on WWII vets that documents where individuals served during the war? I would definetly enjoy knowing more about how my grandfather participated in the war if the details exist.

If you can figure out what unit your grandfather served in, you should be able to locate a fairly detailed operational history.
