My M-I-L just moved out of her home of 35+ years and downsized to an apartment. My wife & I are currently going through 35+ years of collected stuff.

My F-I-L, his mother and possible one of my wife's grandfathers were in the military during WWII, Vietnam and possibly other conflicts. We are finding all kinds of buttons & pins that I can't reallly identify. I was in the Army for 8 years and I have weeded out all the stuff I can identify. If I take pictures of the stuff that we want identified and post them here, can someone tell us exactly what they are??

I have a dealer account with a military insignia company b/c I use them in my pistol grips all the time as inlays. If you post pics, I'll look them up in the catalog.

I know these pics aren't the greatest but the 1st pin looks to me to be a unit crest. It has an anchor with what looks to be oars crossed over it. On each side of the anchor are what look to be crescent moons. We only came across one of these.

THe 2nd one is a pin that has an anchor with a chain. perpendicular to the anchor is the double twisting serpents going up a pole, which we know is associated with the medical field. On top of the pole is a set of wings.
We only have one of these pins but there are also several uniform buttons with the same design. The large buttons are about the size of a quarter and the smaller ones are about 2/3 the size of a dime.

Is this Navy stuff? I only have Army reference books, so will back off to someone more in the know if it is.

The first one looks like an engineering battalion crest, not sure which though. The second is the Caduceus and Anchor, which is used by a number of military and civilian medical services.

That's what I get for not reading the whole thread.

I was tracking both threads for reference as I spent a little time yesterday trying to do some research on those items as well. Stuff like that is pretty cool...military heraldry.
