I just bought something from a small company who specializes in something most people don't use. I asked about a military discount, and received 20% off.
I think HD is 10%, but I also think that if you ask for 10% each time, they'll give it to you (I know Lowe's will) up to $50 without manager approval.
Thanks to the OP for this thread. I've always thought the HD discount was for holidays only, because they advertise the discount during holidays.
I only found out about the Lowes discount this past May when we bought a new fridge for our daughter in Ohio. The lady in Ohio who checking us out asked if we were military (I'm retired AF).
I have shopped for YEARS at Lowes in OK and spent a lot of money there. I was never once asked about it or saw any advertising about it.
And I always pull out my ID when I ask for the discount.
Home Depot provided every military member who's house was flooded out this past summer here a free washer, dryer, range oven, refrigerator, and microwave. Wasn't even for publicity and the nearest Home Depot store is 270 miles away
I show my retired military ID every time I go to HD or Lowes. The thing I like about HD is that the cashier does it immediately without further action. The Lowes cashiers have to call a supervisor to get the discount.
