When was that recorded? I know its not on my Aggie Band CD, but it sounded like Dr. Rhea talking at the end.

You know, you don't have to read many threads on some of these boards to see how the Corps is looked down upon by some percentage of the student body. Views range from breaking up the Corps bloc to doing away with the Corps altogether. Either way, it won't take long for someone to latch onto this to aid in their arguments.

Good move taking it down from public view. Though I still have the link in my history, and it makes me wonder if someone can do a YouTube search and find it?

Regardless, it was smart to restrict access.

There arent many class of 2012 Marine contract cadets in the band. It wont be hard to figure out who leaked it.. I hope the tradition doesnt die because of this.

On a side note, it's funny how it's evolved over the years. This version had the words barked out sharply. Our version was more flowing. It also sounds like they don't quite have the melody right. Probably because the Ags no longer play football against Rice.

It was highly entertaining to be at a Rice vs. A&M football game and hear the BQs softly singing along with the Rice fans....though the lyrics differed.

That's beautiful! I just sang along in my head as I listened. It was very touching to picture it with the original music.

I noticed the "barking" too, especially on one particular part. That must have been a really recent evolution, as we weren't doing that in my day ('99-'03).

I've told this story before, but back in my day, there was a reunion of the class who originated the BQ song. It seems like they were from a class in the early 1960s, but I can't remember the exact year.

They were surprised the song was still around, they thought it would fade after they left school. They also claimed that the lyrics as they wrote them were:

"...Found in every bar room
Every w****house free-e-e-e
We're the Aggie Band (guys) from A...M....C.."

Their explanation, was that besides making the lines rhyme, the manly men of the Aggie Band were so skilled in the art of lovemaking that they were not required to pay for the attentions of the oldest profession.

Weak, I know, but these were college kids at the time they wrote it.

We made an attempt to pass the song down with "free" but it apparently reverted back to "too".

Wow. I had no idea the BQ song was sung to the Rice alma mater, and I was singing it back in the days of the SWC.

Yep! I worked (high school and Christmas and summers when I was in college) for a Baylor grad who was a lineman Baylor class of 74 or so. My first Christmas back home to work for him I taught him the words to the good ol' Baylor line. He proceeded to tell me how their coach would play the War Hymn in the locker room every week to rile the players up, no matter who they were playing.

"Back in the day" we fell out in front of Dorm 11 to "march" to Midnight Yell. Zips didn't usually carry horns, fish and pheads didn't have the privilege, so sergebutts (and a few zips) would goof around and play music while waiting for step-off. Lots of fun. Often on the playlist:

I'm 10 years after you and I don't recall a "sergebutt band". Now when we would be forming up behind Duncan to march over to Kyle for Yell Practice we'd play a few tunes, like baby elephant march, etc for fun, but it wasn't organized.
