I've watched the first few episodes, and it's a pretty honest portrayal of training from what I've heard. If you have Netflix and are looking for some time to kill or a good military show to watch then I highly recommend it.

I didn't watch all the episodes, but I liked the few episodes that I saw.

Serious question, why does the Air Force have a dive school, much less a Spec Ops dive school?

I can understand the Army, Navy and Marines having this specialty.

because they go out with Spec Ops of all branches all the time for support and need to be just as comfortable in the water to keep up.

Combat Controllers and PJs have always been qualified combat divers, but they used to train at Army Dive School. The Air Force started their own Dive School back in 2006 because it allows them to control the model of the Combat Control and PJ pipelines.

I've always been of the opinion that some courses should be branch/service immaterial. Basic flight training, heavy equipment operator, initial dive school, initial jump school, etc. When you get into work that is branch/service specific is when you should go to a branch/service specific school.

I definitely don't disagree with that, bqaggie, but the Combat Control and Pararescue pipelines already last almost two years and coordinating with army scheduling could increase that even more. PJs and Combat Controllers do get their initial parachutist rating with the army, though.

Navy used to (and still do for some ratings), but we also have our own school now for operators.
