Apparently the tradition of the Corps Holiday Dinner used to exist back in the day, Old Army I guess, but with the help of Col. Stebbins the Corps has brought back the dinner. They had steaks, salmon, and glazed ham as the main entrees. They had a live band as well. Good bull sir.

I always had holiday dinners. We didn't have a band. But we had table cloths, egg nog, fancier than normal food (don't recall what it was exactly). I think cadets could bring dates. It was free flow, etc.

However one year it coincided with Silver Taps, so it was a virtually silent Holiday dinner.

We never had a holiday dinner. We had a Thanksgiving Dinner and a Christmas Dinner.

It's a holiday dinner because it's a combination of Thanksgiving and Christmas. I don't think it's because it's politically correct. We didn't have a formal thanksgiving dinner.

I think they gave us a few scraps of turkey a couple days before Thanksgiving, but half the Corps was already headed back home by then.

I remember the Christmas Dinner back in the day. Waiters brought you cigars, which were lit up and smoked. They also got a nice tip from each table. Waiters used to put up with lots of crap from everyone so it was a way to say 'thanks' and square the account.

Ancient times. Some guys, the lucky ones, even brought dates. Folks were pretty much on good behavior. Pretty much. Not all.

Yep, back in the day it was a formal affair. Winter A's with white shirt and bow tie. And even the fish got to bring dates, eat at ease, and light up a cigar. Good times!

It was a lot of fun! I was even able to bring my 5 & 6 year old daughters who enjoyed sitting across the table from BGR, eating their strawberry ice cream and mini-cakes while watching these strapping young men walk by in their boots & midnights. Plus, we got pictures at the end. It was really nice & I hope they do it again next year!

Holiday Dinner lets be PC please and call it the Winter soltice Dinner,

We had the Christmas Dinner and we all dressed in claas A's and were given Pisshead privs as fish. All classes were bumped up. What i remmeber was we marched to chow at 7pm and torches were lit all along the quad.

Good food and good times.

added remark. Allfood and meals were served family style with hot corners which rotated with each fish. If you wish to hear of this let me know otherwise i won't bore you.

Remember the sparkling catawba (sp?) juice they used to serve in lieu of champagne? We were living large with that stuff.
