I recently found out I had a warrant for a ticket i failed to pay back in '09 for my inspection sticker expiring. I quickly had it updated but never got around to mailing proof or paying the ticket all together. It completely slipped my mind over time and I was reminded with a letter from Limestone County about it the other day.

My brother in law lives on base at Ft. Polk and we are traveling to spend Tday with him and his wife since he has no leave for the holiday. We've been there several times before, but now that I have a warrant until I pay the ticket so i can renew my DL am i still able to get through the gate? I heard that if you have warrant you cant?

You will likely have to be a passenger on fort polk. You might even have trouble getting on with an expired id card. As a passenger, any valid idwill work, so a passport is a good option. Other wise, call the fort polk provost marshal and ask.

My ID isn't expired. It expires on Jan 2 of 12. The letter was sent about not being able to renew liscense prior to me renewing my ID because of the ticket back in 09 that I overlooked.

If you have an active warrant, I would suggest that you not be the driver. There is a chance that the gate guard will scan your driver's license when you present it (if you are the driver, they never scan the passengers), and if you are found to have a warrant they will arrest you.

We have been through the gate at Ft. Polk in the past, and they scan everyone in the vehicle. at least they take all our ID's, they may just scan the driver, and check passengers, but I know for a fact they take all the ID's out of the vehicle.

From what I gathered even if Im a passenger in the vehicle my ID will be scanned. If it comes up red flagged I will most likely be pulled aside to which they will call to see if they wany to come pick me up. has to be by cashiers check or money order, and they closed at 11 am this morning and wont reopen until Monday. If it were a larger town im sure that could very well be an option.

since its a class C it wont pop up anywhere other than the county it was issued. It had been a warrant since Nov of 09 and ive been through Polk several times this year with no issue because of the kind of warrant it is. i called the county and finally got to talk to someone there about it and she said i had nothing to worry about unless i was planning on driving through the county it was issued. I now know what im doing first thing when I get back.
