Anyone know why they are moving the major units around? I just heard about it but know one knows why.

My son is a Butt in F2. His Fish and Head years, they were in Dorm 8 - which is now under full renovation. He thinks that F2 (and the other outfits from Dorm 8) will be in Briggs in the fall...

Also - anyone on the quad during football season... Take some photos of F2 and post them. I am in Kandahar and will miss the March-Ins.

I'm an old F2 fighter. I know I'm definitely going up for the t.u. game and maybe another. I usually go watch march-in. I'll get you some pics!

Aggie Infantry...the majority of F2 is scheduled to be in Dorm 5 with a few cadets going into Dorm 7. 3rd BDE and some spillover from 2nd and 3rd Wings will be in Dorm 3 (Briggs) Hooah!
The Regiments will have Dorms 10 and 12.

BG Ramirez came to speak at the San Antonio A&M Club for their normal Monday lunch. Lots of great information on what is happening. Dorm 8 is the first dorm to get into renovation mode. Lounge between 8 and 6 is gone and being replaced by structure that will connect the 2 dorms. Same thing will happen for 5 and 7 across the Quad in next iteration. Outfits getting moved around because of this construction. All good stuff.

The Streetfighter tells us that starting end strength this fall will be >2200. Lots of other good stuff going on. We hired the right quy. Gonna take back the Quad within a couple of years.

Other tidbits:

1. Next fall the Corps will attend football games en masse, no slinking back to the dorm after March In.
2. Going to be an old style block T on the field during halftime of the Mizzou game.
3. Got 2000 tix for Arky game at Jerry World for Corps to sit in next to Aggie Band for 2012 game (I think I heard next year, not this year, could be wrong). March In will be downtown Fort Worth near Billy Bobs.
4. 47% commission rate this year.
5. Back to wearing uniforms everywhere on campus like ancient times.
6. Good chance for Gameday at Kyle Field this fall, if so getting 100 cadets to be in close visual, will have Gameday Announcers on the Reviewing Stand for March In.
7. Aggie Band, PMC, FDT coming to 2012 Battle of Flowers in SA. Tried to get the entire Corps invited but the BOF spazzed out on it.
8. Dollar Bill is making available Corps 500 seat block for BB games next spring.
9. Got cadets all over the world on trips this summer.
10. There will be a Corps Recruiting Booth in the Fan Zone in front of JRollie this fall.
11. Explained the deal on the Corps Recruiting billboards in the Houston/BCS area. Virtually free deal with old BQ roomie.

Other stuff, too. I liked it all.

When you say the Corps will be attending games en masse, does that mean they can't return to the dorms to put up sabers, grab their 12th Man towels, etc.? Or that they aren't supposed to leave the game early? Because the policy has always been that the entire game is required attendance, cadets have just always snuck out.

Is the march-in in Ft. Worth this year or next?

Do you know if the 47% include PLC?

I wish fish would sit on 3rd deck with non-reg freshmen. As a 5th year we pulled tickets late and I sat behind the Corps once, on the edge of first deck behind mostly fish. I sat on 3rd deck once too, and those non-reg freshmen actually pay attention to the games and do the yells instead of playing on their phones and chating it up with their buddies. Sad to say it, but corps fish could learn a thing or two from them.

It's my understanding that the uniform block is only about 10 years old, right?

Back in my day we pulled with our class, no Corps Block. I preferred it that way as a fish because you were sitting with other fish (Corps and non-reg) and didn't have your pissheads messing with you during the game. There are good arguments for both ways of doing it. The Corps Block is good publicity (PLEASE, PLEASE DO AWAY WITH SQUEEZE ARMY! THAT SHOULD HAVE GONE AWAY DECADES AGO!) but it would also be good to see the Corps as part of the student body as a whole.

Yeah, just call me wishy-washy!

I'm '72 and we squeezed...hard!

Never had to go to "ticket pulls"...just show your student activity card at the gate and you were good to go. Everyone filled in the stands according to class from the 50 to the horseshoe. If you were a Sergebutt and the Zips filled in and needed more room, you moved toward the goal, the Pissheads moved a little more and the fish ended up farther around the horseshoe. No tickets meant no "this is my seat" crap...who cared? We were all standing anyway! What a concept, huh?

The Regiment in Dorms 10 & 12 are not a new concept. That is where they were when I was there (89-93)

1995, first Corps Trip Parade to Waco since 1926 (Baylor Game).
Bop sitting in south Baylor end zone noticed a remarkable absence of uniformed cadets in SE student sector at Baylor Stadium next to, and behind, the FTAB.
Put binoculars on rows top to bottom and only counted 67 cadets.
Half time under stadium (at a concessions stand) Bop inquires of some cadets, "Where's the Corps?"
One cadet responded, "Cadets are not required to attend the game. Most go home or back to campus after the parade. Tickets too expensive."
Bop was SHOCKED !!! SHOCKED !!! Still am !

(Now SHOCKED again at cadets in College Station who elect to skip the Kyle Field games; sneek out to support their team whether they won, lost, or tied...in front of a TV screen.)

Bop. Why are you shocked by Cadets or students not attending away games. Have you checked ticket prices lately?

The 2000 tickets the Corps is buying for the Arkie game have a face value of $85.00. The Cadets will pay $50.00 and the balance will be paid by probably the Corps of Cadets Association. I feel certain you will like to sponsor a Cadet for the game--just $35.00.

Bottom line is it is expensive to go to the away games for students.

Missed that game AND the march-in because I wrecked my truck on my way to march-in. Came over the top of a hill on Valley Mills and KABOOM! $4500 damage.

If A&M Cadets cannot attend an away FOOTBALL GAME (as the original intent for Corps Trips "to support their team" well, all Corps Trips need to cease.

What's the point ? A downtown parade and then go home, back to campus or a sports bar TV set ?

I don't see a problem with not attending if you can't afford it. What do you expect? And Corps March-Ins are part of tradition no? Just start doing away with stuff and taking away endowments simply because times have changed? Doesn't sound like spirit to me if you're so flaky like that.
