My question is has anyone ever seen this worn?

I've never seen a cape worn. Of course I've only seen someone wear "Dress Whites" once.

We were sitting around in Iraq b/s-ing about weddings and stuff and then this Major (MI Branch) piped in how he wore the cape for his wedding...

The room became eerily silent. Most people didn't even know the cape existed.

The sad things is that everyone laughed at him and were not surprised. I think it was partially because he was very effeminate...

I want a cape for my blues, but my wife says that with the Stetson and saber I'll just look like Zoro.

I think the cape is only authorized for dress blues (which, sadly, is now the exact same as the Class A's) or the mess dress.

I'm telling you that if I stay in the Army I will buy a cape and wear it with a chromed cane.

I was MI and it I don't find it surprising that an MI officer would own one. I was just wondering if this was a regulation myth -- something in the regs but never actually done.

I saw it worn at a funeral procession in DC once. I forget who's but it might have been President Ford.

I didn't recognize it and thought it was a foreign officer then recognized the blues underneath. It was a GO and it was a rainy cold day.

I'm in the process of buying my ASUs for my OCS graduation...think anyone will say anything if I show up in a cape?

It's generally worn places that are COLD, i.e. here at Leavenworth, West Point or DC. We Texans should never have to see such a thing. I have only seen it worn in DC though (which is a place much more about pomp and circumstance than warfighting...but heh we need those guys too...).

The cape is always the same color. It is the lining that changes according to branch.

Does anyone else find it funny that this discussion surfaced the same time as the cape discussion on the Politics Board?
