Howdy all, I have a couple of questions about PCS'ing to Korea. I am a 13B E-5, heading to Korea at the end of the year. I am pretty sure the BN I am going to, but just trying to find info about the area, training, and the like. I am currently at JBLM and have done both deployments with 4SBCT 2ID. Any info on command sponsorship, as I really want to spend time with the family and have a child due in Oct. Also any info in dealing with HAAP assignments? I had Drum originally, but refused to participate in the HAAP, so my wife is moving back to Houston area, and I am told I am needs of the Army for follow on, yet I hear I can choose my next duty station if I do a hardship tour. Just found out about this assignment a few weeks ago, and not too thrilled. Thanks.

The 2ID CDR was here a few months ago recruiting field grades. I was referred to this website about command sponsorships in Korea. The gist is changing, so be careful of what you hear from old farts who were in Korea 10 years ago.

Why not consider taking your wife? Seoul is only like the 2nd or 4th largest city in the world. Lots to do and plenty of traveling to accomplish from there.
