Done it twice in the heavyweight division (carrying 35lb ruck). Spent all my 22 years in the infantry, but walking 26 miles with 35 lbs is still a rear kicker. If you haven't started training yet, best stick with the light weight divison first. It is a great venue and for a good cause. Plenty of scenery out there to check out. I highly recommend it.

I'm going to go do the real thing - planning on a vacation to the Philippines later this year and plan to spend a great deal of time on th Bataan Peninsula. Also planning an overnight trip to Corregidor. Should be interesting. You guys who are younger and in better shape can go the competitive route and good luck to all of you. Gig 'Em!

Keep an eye out for a large group of Wounded Warriors from BAMC. Not sure if they will have shirts on or not but you will recognize them, they will be the guys with prosthetic legs on.

I'm not going to get to make it but wish I could have done it. Great group of guys going.

My 19 year old son was amazed by his first Bataan march. His comments:

* Sleeping in the gym with 1,000 guys & gals was an "experience", but the sleep was scarce.
* Wounded Warriors were amazing! Many were much faster than him with their prosthetic limbs.
* Special forces guys running fast with their ruck sacks; BAD ASS!
* Guys running with gas masks!!!!! WOW!

My observations:
* Kid can hardly walk.
* I asked if he would do it again; his answer was an emphatic yes....but with better training.

My son is on the left in the picture.

My husband did it, too! He was really feeling it for a couple of days after he got home.
