Wow. There are some who actually believe that a member of the Corps can do as they want with the uniform. What a novel approach to discipline.

JR69, CanyonAg 77, sounds like we three, and maybe a few others, just don't get it. If she wanted to wear a bright pink "midnight" for the t.u. game, we should be happy for her. Hell, even nonreg 18 year olds know far more about military discipline than we do.

Apparently, my 20 years in uniform just didn't give me a clue.

i am in the band right now...people in the band hate it just as much as yall do. its terrible

the standard only allows 2 different types of polish. black is not one of them...

The Standard is kinda like bigfoot, everyone has heard about it and preaches of its truth...but no one has actually seen it...

Aren't they still required to display a copy of the standard on the footlocker?

they just tell them that they should read it. they give them the condensed version called the cadence that must always be with them.

[back in my day] The cadence had no relevant information about standards or conduct in it. It was merely history and campusologies.

That's all the cadence was in my day as well.

If they are, then it is a JVA thing. Our 1st butt came by and picked them up during FOW, and I never took possession of one after that. The whole thing was on the cadet intranet site anyway.

Seems like "back in the day" one copy of the Standard was on the top of the dresser. I think I may have brought mine home with me. I'll have to look.

it has the history, campos, and major rules. The Entire rule book is still the Standard.

I was class of '00 and graduated 2 academic terms before Van Alstyne and we had the standard on our footlockers as inspectable items when I was a fish in '96-'97.

'00-'01, I know for a fact that we didn't have a hard copy of the standard as fish.

Nope. The copy we started with was printed on plain white paper and stapled together.

I never saw one.

Heard about it a lot though...

We had The Standard on our dresser top in '94.

Just thought I would let everyone know that my son told me that his upperclassmen told him that the black boots have been stripped of the polish and she will now be using the standard polish!

Sounds like her chain of command did what they should have done starting around Parent's Day 2010.

well rumor has it that she tried to marble the boots and it when really wrong...her pride got in the way and she told people that she meant to do it that way...but again, thats just from some q's that arent her

I am Class of 2000 and each "hole" had a Standard and it had to be "grounded" on the "monster". (any of those terms ring a bell?)

For the t.u. march in at Austin we wore Class A's and had to marble our dress covers. Obviously it is typically done with shoe polish but we had one dumb ass buddy that used heel and sole. Yeah, we got smoked for that one. Good times.
