I don't care for the tex mex or tacos downtown. I like Taquitos West Ave. on 2818 West Ave. about 10 minutes from downtown. There is usually a line though and they only offer Al Pastor on Friday and Saturday.

You can go grab some cheap but tasty tacos and food from Sanchos on 628 Jackson St. not too far from downtown.

Or

Do the touristy thing and eat at Rosario's, Mi Tierra, Acenar, or La Fonda on Main.

Yeah, tbh I would guess 90% of the taco places use mozzarella since it's always available. I can't wait for Tacos Data Point to open their new location on De Zavala. I used to frequent the medical center spot before it burned down. They make some good stuff and have Oaxaca cheese, tripas, and asadero.
