I was a member of Rogers Ranch (Spectrum/Golds) for about 10 years...they have a nice pool but it is maintained and run like crap. Unsupervised kids, selfish dog paddlers who won't share a lane, chemicals that will destroy your hair and your suit in 2 weeks.
I switched to Lifetime at 1604. IF you can survive the traffic and parking, you might be able to swim, IF they are not having some swim lessons, masters (not) swim practice or some other revenue producing activity. Generally, there is one or two lanes partially available for a few minutes. And ditto what the previous poster said, it is kid central. I felt like I was working out in a mall. A bunch of unsupervised, spoiled, sloppy, brats infesting every inch of the place.
So, my journey ends at JCC. By far, the best run, well-maintained actual lap pool in the city. Once you figure out the patterns of the activities (Masters, Swim lessons, AAAA swim team, etc), you can usually get one of 4 lanes most anytime. Right now, the pool is virtually empty after 6 pm during the weekdays, and very easy to get a lane during the weekend days.
At $65 for a couple, it can't be beat. I was paying upwards of $150 at Rogers Ranch and $130 at Lifetime. Sure, you gotta bring your own towel and shampoo, etc. but it's well worth it.
And no, you don't have to be Jewish. Just a normal, polite, respectful human being that is willing to share a lane and clean up after yourself. Those morans are at LFT!
