Does anyone know of a somewhat cost effective option to shade high windows at certain times of the day?
We have 8 windows in our living room where the bottoms of the windows are about 14' above the floor. At certain times of the day, the sun is absolutely brutal through them. In the mornings, it's blinding to anyone sitting on the couch, in the evenings it causes extreme glare on the tv from the opposite side of the room.
There is no existing electrical to power shades up there so rechargeable battery options are what I've looked into but while the shades are ~$60-$70ea, the motors for each add another $150-$200 per window.
Obviously don't want cords or chains dangling that far down at each window to where they would be reachable.
Would some kind of reflective window film be an option? There are no screens on these windows but could a solar screen be retrofitted?
I need to do something and would prefer a shade that could be raised and lowered when needed but $200/window is way more than I would like to spend on something that is only necessary for a few hours a day.
