I want to replace about 40 heads with lower flow nozzles. Online and the local distributors I've found only sell the tabs of nozzles with the various sizes 1.5gpm up to 8...so I have to buy 8 nozzles to get one and trash the rest.

One place I talked to here said sometimes they get a bunch of these for free but don't know when or how many.

Anyone know how to locate these in bulk? I'm looking for the blue 1.5gpm pgp ultra (782900SP)

Those things are like $0.40 for the whole nozzle tree. Not sure how much time I would spend looking if it wasn't easily available, Spending time to try to shave down from $16. Sure, its wasteful, but from their manufacturing perspective they save a ton just making one part number. Individual would probably end up costing more.

What caliber said. That's how they are manufactured and sold. Don't make it harder than it needs to be. Besides that way if you ever decide you need to adjust a few here and there you will already have them in your sprinkler parts bucket to switch out.

I checked amazon and they were like 3 bucks per pack and i needed 30, so that seemed like a waste.

Found some at my third distributor call and they just let me dig through a box until i found as many as i wanted

licensed irrigator for 22yrs here (mostly commercial)
Try contacting your local large irrigation company and see if they can give you their extra nozzles. They might think you're crazy. We usually install #4 or 5 blue or #8 or 9 in the red and then toss the rest.

Just remember that head spacing is extremely important in irrigation and when you reduce your nozzle size you are also reducing your spray coverage (radius). If the rotors are installed on lets say 40-45' spacing and then you install a 1.5 nozzle then your spray drops to 29-32'. As I preach to customers on a daily basis, nozzles are designed for head to head coverage. If they are not hitting each other then you will have major issues especially this time of year. Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm reducing nozzle size because zone demand is outpacing well pump production. I've got all the rotors on the 1.5gpm nozzles now and the well is able to build pressure up the 60psi cutout now where it was hovering in the teens the entire run before.

Switching the beds all to 4' radius heads instead of 10'.

I've got 2 zones left of spray heads in grass that I'm changing to mp rotators tonight.

My rotors are about 20ft apart and I did confirm coverage is good. It's actually better now because a larger nozzle at a quarter of its design psi was doing nothing for me.

Ah! Due to the well. Ok

The only time I've used mps is for a well. Otherwise most of us just leave them on the shelves. I have one property here in Fort Worth that has mps and we are running them over 50mins each and its still not enough. Wearing me out!

Licensed irrigator here as well. When you buy a case, a nozzle tree will be included for each head in the box. Also remember, the nozzles aren't matched precipitation. Which means you have to match. 1.5 for 90, 3 for 180, and 6 for 360. If you don't do this, you may have dry spots.

MPs aren't great with well water though. May end up not spinning in pretty short order.

They're super easy for scheduling though because you know they are 0.4 in/hr no matter which nozzle, etc. However, I understand it's tough for commercial with set water restrictions.

I dont think so.

Woke up to a garage full of smoke week before last. Capacitor fried on the well control. Replaced box. Dug into why capacitor fried, pressure tank water logged and short cycling. Replaced tank, switch, gauges etc. In the process of monitoring new tank, notice the pretty extreme drawdown on several zones so this move was more of a, "let's not have this happen again" effort.

I think before I was just blindly letting the pump run for hours without building head pressure and it took a garage full of smoke to make me notice.
