30-yr old house, original faucet, hums at times, usually sounds like low-frequency version of chain saw.

Replace it. 3 minute job. I put 1/4 turn spigots on my house

Old faucets of that age usually have rubber washers that harden, crack, or lose their seating screw over time. The flow of water around it causes the loose rubber to vibrate against the metal valve seat. ...I'm guessing that is the origin of the sound you are hearing.

I'll swap those out. Been making this noise since we moved in 14 years ago.

1980 house had lots of faucets going bad, so A+ plumber down the street did the whole house
(washer & water heater corroded messes NOT for DIY)
in less than an hour using typical brass parts.
2019 $185 material/labor

We leave the hose bib (many turns typical Compression Valve) ON
but turned/tuned to the sprinkler's best reach & coverage ...
this feeds the quick connect Y-ball valves to each sprinkler hose
so manual on-off to already set/tuned sprinklers ...
no more tweaking volumes, turning a valve as per results seen.

(An auto timer could be added but looking for less tedious, EZPZ)

Also, some sprinklers also dismount & serve as general sprayers in needed.




No we don't believe in irrigation systems for selves ... BTW Wellborn Water rates almost doubled and already we are in Stage One water conservation rules.
