Want to mount a projector screen to brick

I have a 120" Da Lite projector screen I'd like to mount under the soffit of my house in the backyard.

I have been exploring sleeve anchors and eye hook plates etc. The screen has two holes on either side, 102" apart from each other. The screen and housing combined is probably around 60-75lb

I want the screen to be removable so wasps don't make a home in it during the summer. I'm planning for it to be used in the Fall for Aggie football.

I want to make sure I do it correctly. Before I drill into brick, I'd like to get confirmation.

Any decent mortar anchors would work but I'm generally wary of drilling into brick unless it's absolutely necessary. Why not just get a pull down screen and mount it directly to the soffit? Wood is easy to patch, there'd be zero risk of leaks, and you won't need to remove it during off-season.

Tapcons are what I'd recommend. Plenty of strength and relatively small holes when you inevitably need to remove the screen.

Good points.

I got this screen because it's heavy duty. I suppose I could find a much lighter option

Use the beams coming out in the soffit. Put in eye bolts, or something with a loop, then use carabiners to attach the screen. Easy to detach and you aren't messing with your brick.

ANY branded anchor will hold that. A screw on it's own will support that weight and not break a sweat, two of them will be exceeding the requirements by a large factor.

If you want to feel better about it, a #8 deck screw in a 2x4 will hold over 200lbs. That is not some blowhard dorky engineer's opinion, that's a real life fact because I've done it out of necessity. Brick and mortar will be even stronger if you read the package and get the appropriate sizes.

This is where I'd like to go. What's behind that wood piece though? Brick?

Or I should say - how do I find the beams coming out of the soffit?

Look for the nails where the soffit is secured. Mine are every 12", but yours maybe be 16" or 24" depending on the builder.

Stud finder should also work if you cant find the nails already holding it up. Keeping it under the soffit will also protect it from the elements alot more than lower on the brick.

Hang it from the soffit and then ground hooks or weights to hold it down when in use.
