Good morning. Unfortunately, I have to do a pool renovation. I have a pool guy, and our plans are set.

With the renovation, the yard will be destroyed. Our pool renovation is now a backyard renovation. Funny how that happens.

I'd like to take half the yard and put about 780 sq ft of artificial turf. quoted at 15k.
1. Is this a reasonable quote?
2. Best types of artificial for a backyard?
3. Artificial vs something like a bluegrass?

Additionally, they will be demoing a fence to get to the pool, so we'll likely jump on our plan for gate and fence install for the driveway. I have a few quotes from 2024 then the AC went out and funds shifted. Currently leaning towards Texas Fence. I need a gate built/installed, plus a little bit of ground leveling.
1. Does anyone work with them and have thoughts?
2. Any others I should consult?

Again - in Kingwood. Thanks for any tips, tips, or recommendations!

I'm in Sugar Land, but used Texas Fence for about 400 LF of wood fencing in the last couple of years. We did it in two sections so two different crews completed the work. I was very happy with both crews and the finished product. We also used Tim's Fence for iron fencing between the house and the garage a while back. I was also happy with their work. They are based down here, but looks like they work all over the Houston area.

Thanks. Looks like Tim's doesn't service our area.

I am in Kingwood and had a pool and new patio plus patio cover installed in 2022. I live in a neighborhood built in the early 2000s so not sure if it matters, but a lot of my neighborhood and HOA recommend New Caney Fence. The first time they replaced my fence in 2018 they did a fantastic job (about $20 linier foot.. plus maybe $600 for a 5 foot gate). We added our pool in 2022 and had them only replace the fence on our breezeway between our detached garage and our house. We made it 6 feet tall (it was previously 3 or 4 feet?) and added a gate that had a spring to close it automatically which we thought was necessary. Still around $22 or so per linier foot but the 3 foot gate cost more. However, the wood posts surrounding the gate they used warped quickly which makes the gate and latch kind of useless. They replaced one side post for free, using a metal post to prevent warping, which worked for a while, but still now causes the gate to either get too tight and stuck or too loose and possibly open depending on the temperature outside with the other wood post. I don't know the solution but if I had to do it again, I'd get 2 metal posts and hope the temperature outside doesn't create any warping.
