bubble in garage ceiling?

Should I be concerned about something leaking from the floor above? It's dry to the touch, and the drywall seems solid. There is an interior wall that separates a bedroom and bathroom directly above though, and I'm 98% certain that is where the plumbing for the tub and toilet is running.

Our MUD is hooked up to the EyeOnWater app, and it shows no leaks detected.

Or could this just happen to paint because of humidity and temperature changes in the garage?

Would like to avoid cutting holes and patching unless I have to.

TIA

That is 100% water coming through the ceiling. Check the gasket for your tub overflow. It could be leaking when someone takes a bath.

Agree with above. You can get a moisture meter from Home Depot and check it right now. Then run the tub or drain and test the drywall again in an hour or two. Should help you determine without running a ton of water.

Or you can cut a hole in the other side of the wall from the tub plumbing and just look at it, because that's what the plumber will do to fix it. Just make sure the hole is the right size to install an access panel.

Have a moisture meter on order. I like the access panel idea. This is actually at my MIL's house so hopefully she goes for it aesthetically.

My concern now is potential mold and damage that I can't see. Should I just go ahead and cut out that spot in the garage and replace it so I can get a look?

Yes, cut it out and take a look. Worst case scenario is you have to fix the sheetrock. Have someone in the bathroom while you look at the plumbing and have them direct the water at the overflow and see if the water is escaping around the gasket.
