I'm looking at getting my house resided, new fascia, soffit, etc. Current the soffit is solid with a series of metal vents. The roof has ridge vents for ventilation. Any issues with replacing the soffit with Hardie continuous vented soffit?

Primarily concerned with moisture when adding intake airflow without increase outtake with the ridge vents .

May need to move insulation and staple in additional rafter baffles. You likely have baffles just near the existing grates.

Thanks. Early 90s house. No current baffles. Insulation ends right before the soffit all around the house. Just had the insulation replaced in the last 6 months. Was like that pre and post new insulation.

Seems like every house project I do is connected and the optimal order is the reverse of what I'm choosing.

I need to have my house resided soon too with a small area of siding, eaves, and soffits. It has crappy vinyl over old cedar right now.

I'm wondering if you could share with me any input on pricing you're looking at for getting this done. I don't even know a rough estimate of what it will cost. It's a two-story 2700sqft from 1987.

Agree with maddiedou.

The Hardie soffit will be good. There should not be any concern with your ridge vent. It is impossible to perfectly match ridge vent and soffit vent. There is also no such thing as 'too much' ventilation. Put as much Hardie soffit around as you can and make sure your ridge vent is adequate. You can make this calculation yourself online by using Owens Corning Ventilation Calculator. Measure your roof on google maps and get an idea of your attic space square footage. Then make sure you have enough ridge to make ridge vent effective. Explore additional ventilation options if needed, but don't get too worked up over exact figures. If you need help with this, shoot me an email or text and I'll measure it for you and see what I come up with.
