So the pull knob that switches the faucet in the tub to a shower in my kids' bathroom has always been a little sticky. When they were little it didn't matter too much as they always took baths and then as they got older they almost always would just hop in our shower. It was pull able but it usually required me to pull it instead of my wife.
Last week someone was in my bathroom at the kids bathtime so I said no problem they can shower in their own room. It was now just fully stuck. Grabbed knob with some pliers. Still stuck. Used some penetrating lube and vice grips and got it moving. And then popped the top of the puller off.
How fixable is this problem without opening the wall up? There's an access palenl on the other side of this wall but it's more for the plumbing down below the faucet.
