Got a 1980s house original cabinets that have been painted once. Was going to repaint we redid counter and backsplash already.

We don't plan to be here forever so was wanting some feedback on the looks of this two tone dark bottom cabinet and a white on top. This is from a painting visualizer app so obviously hardware will make it look finished. My wife was thinking an antique brass knob. The second picture is a current closeup of cabinet/backsplash/counter.

I do not care for that Look, but that could just be me. I do like white cabinets though.

I've seen two tones look good but that blue clashes with everything

Thanks for the feedback, I am very much not sold on the color my wife thinks it'll look different in person. What really worries me is the old style cabinet doors in a color might look cheap no matter how expensive of a paint that's used.

Having white appliances is also throwing off the look

Yeah it all came with and has a 1 yr warranty when we bought the house. We'll revisit the dishwasher and microwave since one is really old and the other should be relatively inexpensive to replace if we can find the right size easily. Haven't even looked into it.

The color reminds me of the kitchen in my grandparents' old house. If the bottom is going to be different, I'd think it needs to be truly dark, like navy, black, charcoal, etc. That blue is bright and just not an appealing color imo.

I like two-tone cabinets in general, but the bright white with the turquoise blue makes me think of a vacation rental in Florida.

I'm in agreement on the blue being far too bright.
I dont mind the two-toen cabinets but whem matching with white, the other tone should be far darker, IMO.

Lately, I've seen a lot of the dark sea green color like the photo below as well as navy.

Why not replace the doors? You can replace them all for a reasonable cost. Just call Evans Cabinet Doors in Brenham.

We did two tone with a blue in our last house and liked it a lot. But a lot going on in that visualizer….

Looks good there, our kitchen is unfortunately not long and opened up so that's the main problem I think.

We did a similar color scheme as well. I think yours will look good with a tad darker blue. I agree that once hardware is installed it'll offset it much better, plus if you switch to stainless steel appliances. Maybe with your backsplash tones, you can do a warmer white for the top half.

I am also interested in swapping to brass hardware later on.

Not currently interested in that for this house but what does a door or drawer typically run for simple upgrade?

This is not our kitchen but this is our color scheme. All my "after" pics are during our ceiling renovation.

Top is Ben Moore white dove- Sherwin Williams Emerald paint color matched. Bottom is Farrow and Ball Pigeon- Sherwin Williams emerald paint color matched.
Our upper cabinets are all open shelves so that breaks up the whiteness a lot.

This is one of my inspiration pics. Our counters are blackish greenish granite.

Probably about $30 a door and $10 a drawer front. You also are starting with new wood so it is easier to prep and paint.
