LED WiFi smart light bulbs are a game changer

A few weeks back i started swapping out all my bulbs (lamps, ceiling fans, recessed lights, etc) with smart bulbs and it's pretty bad ass.

I can adjust color, brightness and temperature from my phone for every single light bulb (grouped by room or device) on a sliding scale so I can achieve perfect ambiance.

That being said, I'm also the type of person that walks into a room and starts turning off and on lights to my liking.

I only came across these because my kids have put LED lights in their rooms for years, but for them it's just been gimmicky. Such a weird and random thing I'd never have thought would have been something that I'd even care about, or notice.

They're expensive and TBD how long they last, but if it gets to the point I'm constantly swapping out bulbs, I'm out.

I know it's a pretty dull thing to care about and prolly nobody cares, but I've been kinda geeked-out about it so figured I could vent to the HI board.

Where i don't need color control I've been converting to smart switches.

My only concern is I wouldn't want to saturate my WiFi network with a bunch of unnecessary IoT devices. You can also get them with zigbee or zwave if you have a hub of some sort. I'm implementing at the switch level (Z-wave). I only do dimmable where it makes sense in the house. I put a simple motion sensor with timer in our walk-in pantry and a couple bathrooms. Definitely nice to have.

That's actually what I meant by smart switches. Most of mine are zigbee that I run through Hubitat

I did this when we moved into our house almost 7 years ago and could not recommend it enough, especially if you have kids or a SO that doesn't understand that the same switch pushed in a different direction turns the light off. 5 people in this house and only me and the 6 year old understand this.
