I cleaned up some acidic toilet bowl cleaner with a towel. The active ingredient is hydrogen chloride. I there that towel into my laundry room sink and forgot about it. Today my cleaning lady asked me what happened to the sink. DOH! Parts of the sink turned black. We scrubbed it with a green Scotchbrite sponge, steel wool, and Bon Ami. It looks way better but it is still stained.

Any suggestions to get this back to normal? Or closer to normal?

This is not an expert opinion
I'd try baking soda , toothpaste or bar keepers friend

Do google search and you will find answers.

There is a process that ends with buffing it out using rouge.

Mother's mag polish with sponge or scotch brite. Could definitely use a power tool on it also, maybe drill with polish wheel (w/mother's)

Definitely try Bar keepers friend. It has worked where I did not expect in the past.

I agree, start with trying Bar Keepers Friend before going to a more elaborate strategy. I've had good luck with it.

I stumbled on a product called Astonish that has changed my life. It cleans cooking surfaces, oven, ss, revereware bottoms, and is the only thing that cleans the inside of my le creuset pan to like-new status without abrasives or 12 hours of soaking.

I recommend using Rose's Polish over Brasso because Brasso will give you swirl marks. Barkeeper's friend may work, but I've had some luck removing staining from stainless sinks using Weiman stainless steel sink polish.

I installed a stainless steel sink in our outdoor kitchen and within months I started seeing light rust staining in the bottom of it. I'm sure barkeepers's friend would remove the rust but what can I do to keep it from returning?

Wipe it down with some oil between uses? Mineral oil or some sort if cooking oil?

Which Astonish product specifically do you have? Interested because of the Le Creuset cleaning ability. I looked on Amazon and there is a whole line of Astonish products.

It is the Oven and Cookware cleaner paste.
I actually found it under my parents' sink when we cleaned out their house, and I kept it and never used it. I started using it when the Le Creuset got super stained one time and it returned it to perfect front and back. It has been a godsend!! I have no idea where they got it, probably HEB or Walmart.

Technically it is a light abrasive, so I use it sparingly with horrible stubborn stains. Not every time I use the pan!

On a side note, It makes my glass cooktop gleam.

Any luck with anything? Did you get the spots out of the sink?

Just be sure to use sparingly. You can check the Astonish website and they have a list of products that are approved for enamel. This product is on kne list but not another.

Also you can use barkeepers friend or the Le creuset cleanser.
