Just saw a leak around base of toilet that isn't terrible but has puddled water on top of floor. Is this just a wax ring issue or anything else I need to look at when I have it off. Toilet feels sturdy and wax ring is only 6 months old. Had new floors put down.

Going to be working long hours coming up so trying to get it resolved tonight, hoping to not need a plumber.

Thanks for any help

I would think wax ring. You could try tightening the bolts to the floor also.

The new floor are probably taller than the old floor. The wax ring is probably sitting on the subfloor and not tall enough for the height of the new tile. They make double tall wax rings for this very purpose. You can also stack two regular wax rings on top of each other for this very reason.

If you are too busy, no need for a plumber, easy job for a handyman

True, didn't think of that. Will keep that in mind if it has any issues after setting last night. Flushed it multiple times and hasn't leaked so we'll see.

Had a similar symptom but it turned out to not be a wax seal leak. The problem was a failure with the fill valve. It sometimes would not detect when the tank was full, such that the tank filled too much and allowed water to escape at the flush handle opening and run down the side of the tank and onto the floor.

You can stack wax rings for height if needed

Yeah I probably will try that if this doesn't work. Anyone ever use the rubber style rings? Look easier to use not sure how well they seal.
