Has anyone automated the outdoor sconces by exchanging their switch? If so any recommendations on brands/gotchas to watch out for?

Wemo - have all our outdoor lights on these switches. Use the Wemo app to adjust times

Appreciate it! Do you use their whole system? I think they have security cameras and setups right?

I have several switches that I replaced with wifi controllers by Gosund (from Amazon). They've been great for years.

We use the dusk to dawn light bulbs and just leave the light switch on all the time. They work great, last a long time, and never have to adjust the time schedule as the daylight time changes

In our old house we had smart switches (Wemo), timer switches, and smart light bulbs.

I think the bulbs are the way to go and that's what we have in our new house. The Bluetooth ge Cync bulbs are what we have in our front yard (two overhead lights and two sconces on either side of the walkway to the front door).

We also have a few Phillips hue bulbs but think the ge are better, price considered.

By doing bulbs you can also change the warmth of the white or make them colored for holidays, etc.

I changed all my exterior bulbs to Philips Hue bulbs, and just leave the switch for them on all the time. I can schedule them on/off, change colors for holidays, etc.

The last 2 posts are correct. I originally had a timer switch but it was getting manually turned on/off, I had to reprogram with time change, just a general pain.

I switched the bulbs to GE Sync a few years ago and swapped the switch back and just leave it on all the time. The lights have been great.
