Hello all, could use your expertise:

I stuck the pictured hooks using gorilla glue epoxy to my porcelain tile on the bathroom wall to hang the mirror. I don't want to drill into the porcelain. We just renovated this bathroom.

It isn't sticking. The epoxy is just curing on the plastic but not sticking to the porcelain tile wall. I had the mirror up before but it was a bit too heavy (25-30lb) and the adhesive hooks came off. I want to use these hooks as they are large and have a good rating and I've already measured it out on the porcelain - but need to practically ensure they don't come off again - thus epoxy/glue.

Is there a better glue I can use or y'all recommend? Should I buy a different type of glue? Pics below

Could mounting from the ceiling be an alternative? I'd imagine the porcelain is too slick and needs to be scuffed up with some sand paper for decent adhesion.

I suspect it'd be trial/error. I'd probably adhere something to the back of that plastic piece, like a piece of cloth/fabric (even though that's not where the bond is failing for you) and then I'd use E6000 to glue that piece to the tile.

Then, I'd hang something that weighs similar to the mirror's weight (maybe a tad heavier...1.5x for factor of safety) from the hooks and leave it up for a week or two (to ensure you don't break the mirror during testing).

I'd let the E6000 cure for a few days before testing.

I have used Command strips to mount frames and mirrors on glass and painted ceramic tile before and it holds up.

Clean the surface really good then go back and wipe the areas you are going to place the strips with alcohol. That does a good job of removing any residue from cleaners etc.

With a 30lb mirror i would try 8 pairs (2 packs) of the large ones or bite the bullet and drill.

rear upper mirror back needs only enough "sticky" to prevent turnover (not weight) BUT
would prefer mirror top secured by

screws through into studs via
crown molding strip or
(ala the old days) directly through "flower"/other decor "washer"-glass-tile-studs

My thoughts exactly. Sending and roughing it up is worse IMO than drilling it out and then being able to fill it in.

What is the purpose of the hooks/what do you plan to hang from it?

doesn't matter how strong the hooks are, you are dependent by the glue. In a humid wet/dry fluctuating environment - I wouldn't trust glue.

I would drill into studs and just use some sort of cleat that spans the width of the mirror

What's under the weights? If it doesn't hold might crack or break the tile at the bottom.

i have plastic towel hooks hanging on my ceramic tile i use 3m double sided tape to secure them. has worked well strong and secure.
