Howdy!

I just moved in to an older house with real wood floors. My home office chair has the typical chair wheels that come with the chair. I've noticed that the floor is starting to get marked where the chair rolls.

I've contacted the chair manufacturer about getting wheels for wood floors but have not received a response.

How do y'all deal with rolling office chairs and wood floors?

(The chair is a Herman Miller, if that helps.)

Thanks for your help!

I love my roller blade wheels for hard flooring. No mat. Link

Installed some roller blade wheels on my office chair, which previously had the hard plastic casters. As long as the casters on your chair use a somewhat universal connection, these will work.

The roller blade wheels came from an outfit named "The Office Oasis," and I happened to order from Woot/Amazon. Following is a link to the wheels on Amazon:

Been quite satisfied, though have only had installed for a few months. I would not recommend these for carpeted floors or for use on rugs, but for hard surface floors, I think think they are great.

Forgot to add, I'm incredibly fat. How do these wheels do for very obese people?

I've got some of those exact roller blade wheels on a couple of little rolling stools in my wife's embroidery room. Great on the wood floors. I wouldn't be concerned about weight, they're well built. I'm not small either. The only negative I have found is that they're a bit too easily rolled for a small stool and they'll roll away if you stand up and sit down real quick.

They ain't cheap but...
Vitrazza glass chair mats. Even with stock wheels, are money well spent.

Don't know what makes Vitrazza so expensive but this glass seems comparable.

I find no need for any mat with wheels that aren't hard plastic. Mine are tough but "soft" (relatively) - they aren't the hard plastic type. The softer wheels are also silent when rolling. And the only thing mine damages is my dog's tail if he isn't paying attention.

These are great! Bought a set Friday night and already got here. Installed in 30s. Roll much smoother that original ones.
