Humblebrag - just got my industrial cabinet SawStop home. I'll need to make some tweaks to make this fit my space a little better, but super happy to have this thing.

I've been want to get my kids exposed to more woodworking, but my old cabinet saw didn't even have a riving knife. I'm really pleased with this upgrade.

My 9 year old has had diarrhea all morning, so don't assume your day is better than everyone else's.

That said, nice setup!

I know how you could make my day better than your day. Donate your old saw to a great foundation. The SoulSlaveAg foundation is committed to ensuring that no piece of woodworking equipment is discarded or forgotten. Donating to this foundation ensures that your loved tool, finds a great home, one where it will be cared for and allowed to bring joy and happiness to others as it brought to you.

Eta: in fact it may even improve your day more, as we all know it is better to give than to receive.

Haha - I would, but I've got another local Aggie lined up. I'm sure it'd be a hike up here to Amarillo. I seem to remember you've got family out here, though. Next time you're in town, look me up.

The outfeed table came with a pretty decent torsion box top and surface, but the legs weren't great and casters were junk. I got outfeed table legs reinforced and added some new adjustable feet. These feet have an Allen pattern on top, so you can adjust them from above:

Installed the feet on the inside of the corner. Added some new, larger, retractable casters on the outside corner. This thing might weigh 500lbs, but it moves sosmooth now. You can see where the Allen driver hole allows for adjustment to the feet on the inside corner.

How big is your garage? I see your truck parked in there alongside all that space. Very nice setup.

I've got dust collection for the miter saw and other bench tools, but I never have done anything with the previous table saw or planer. The bench area has a cyclone separator with a dedicated shop vac on an Auto-start switch and works pretty well, especially because I can keep it compact and still get pretty good airflow.

I had actually been considering a clone of that setup to basically live under the outfeed table primarily for the table saw but also other tools if I pull it out. There wouldn't be enough capacity keep up with the planer, but I don't plane enough to worry about it. I use a table saw all the time and it's never been a big deal being next to the garage door, but it would be a nice upgrade.

I'm always open to input though.

Thanks. Overall, it's about 800 sqft. Pretty normal 3 car width, but slightly over-sized depth (maybe 24'?). The single bay has an extra recessed area, which is part of what you're seeing. It's a really nice space where I can always go piddle around in even if both vehicles are in the garage. I've shared pics on here before, but here's one from that back area.

Well dang. Can't blame a poor soul for trying.

Yes, I still have family in Canyon. Next time we travel I'll shoot you a line.

Congrats on the new saw, your current set up is my goal someday, just have to get the kids into college first.

Wrote a 15k check to start work on a new bathroom and overnight the horse needed colic surgery. Not a great day for the bank account

Both. There's a cartridge that's about $100, and the blade is trashed.

The guy I bought it from has had it happen one time. He had an aluminum channel on a sled. The blade nicked the channel, he was touching the channel several inches away, and it popped. What's interesting is that it is because he was touching the aluminum which touched the blade, not that he touched the blade. Had he not been touching the aluminum, it wouldn't have popped.

Last thing I wanted to do to was cut the width down a little bit. I really don't need 52" cutting capacity, so I cut the rails and extension table down about 9". Still bigger than the standard industrial model, but adds a little bit of room to park our Expedition. The total width now matches the outfeed.

Had to disassemble the rails, cut'em down and grind the curves back into the corners. Happy with these free-hand corners. I wanted it to look like it could be a factory rail and had to tape the T-glide tube to get the glide paths for the fence to look just right.

Got it all waxed and it's super nice to use. Planning on adding a Grizzly dust collector on the bottom of the outfeed table with an auto-start switch. Grizzly If anyone has this dust collector, would appreciate you sharing your experience.

Maybe a little controversial to trim it down, but I think it'll work better for the setup that I have. I'm not sure what I'd cut at 52" that I shouldn't just use a track-saw for. Haha.

no need to test a hot dog on it, I can confirm it works. Turned what would have been a short finger for me into a chipped bone and a few stitches. I could distinctly see 2 sawteeth indentations in my finger vs just the end being lopped off.

Ive triggered it a few other times with contact, mostly on the side of the blade trying to clear off material. Sometimes the blade is salvagable. Ive gotten mine checked for flatness and had to get a few new teeth brazed on, but as long as its flat, it can most likely be saved.

If you mail the cartridge into sawstop on a flesh contact, they will verify and mail you a free replacement. It may not be cheap for them, but thats how they get their 'saves' numbers they advertise.

Ouch! I'm glad your finger is still there and intact.

Dang. Glad that's all it was.

Honestly, I was getting to be more and more worried about running a 3HP saw with no riving knife than I was about the blade. But I do have a ER doctor friend who also does carpentry and he'd see 3-4 table saw injuries a month and bought a Contractor SawStop as a result. Between that, and everything I've read about the quality of their cabinet saws being fantastic, I decided to make the jump.

I've never looked at having blades sharpened, but I do clean mine regularly and that helps. I always assumed sharpening blades was like turning brake rotors - almost as easy to buy a new one as it is to turn one. Do you have a blade you recommend? I've always used Freud, which I think is a solid mid-tier blade, but it might be time to upgrade.

forrest WWII is probably one of the most popular and best. my tablesaw blades have probably all been resharpened 5+ times. It costs $15-30 to get one done, and when a good blade is $150+, its worth it. I also get router bits regularly sharpened.

Awesome, thank you!

Any mods to the saw you recommend? Looks like you also have an ICS from a couple of pictures I found. This fence came with the Jess'em guides. I've seen them but never used them until now. They have been really nice for sheet goods. Smaller parts,meh...

I'm also considering a router table on the extension wing. I've got a Bosch table top unit that I like, but I'd like a longer surface.

Funny story - when I talked to the local dealer, they told me they've only ever sold a single ICS locally to a large defense contractor. Most guys have bought the PCS. The fence is pretty amazing on this thing and very heavy.

ive done some mods ill take pictures of later and can explain. when I bought mine (16+ years ago?) there was no PCS version, only the ICS

Dust collection?

Just finished this install. I tried to plumbed it with some gates to be able to isolate the table saw or use it for other tools that I can roll or carry over (ie bandsaw, sanders, jointer, etc). Had to 3D print some adapters, but happy with how it turned out. It does a pretty good job - I get just a little bit of residue on the tabletop but I'm not really interested in an over-arm hood collector at this time

I also hardwired a lot of features into the table. The table has a couple of pigtails that I plug into the wall for 120V & 240V. I can just plug the saw into a 240V receptacle without crawling through the table. I also don't like to keep my saw plugged in with little kids around the house, so I added a 240V light to this circuit to remind me to turn the breaker off when I'm finished.

Added a switch for the dust collector and another outlet for a local tool if I need it. This assembly table has been easy to roll out and use when I need it, and it's nice to enhance with some dust collection.

look at the feed rate in the videos with the hot dogs. it's relatively slow. I was moving my hand a bit faster.

I did hit it another time moving my hand slowly when I had nitrile gloves on. it fired and I had to look to see where it had contacted me.

so would you say you were feeding too fast? Or would you say they are exaggerating their feed rate to highlight the safety of their product?

in their videos, probably moderate to slow vs typical cuts.

but ripping 1/4" ply vs 2" hardwood can be a huge difference in feed rates

They have videos of running hot dogs fast into the blade and the damage was similar to agrams. About 1/8-1/4" cut which is still way better than an amputation.

had to do some digging to find pics since i dont have any on my phone.

here is the outfeed table folded down. I bought some rollers and welded up a frame and put the rollers in it. It has an arm that goes down to the cabinet to hold it in the elevated position. Makes it much easier for sheet goods. The support arm rests in a piece of angle iron on the cabinet. I made some bracing inside the cabinet from 3/4" ply and bolted the track to the back so that the load was spread out and wouldn't deform the sheet metal cabinet.

i also built a cabinet with DC in it, it has a router lift and I put a T-track
