Is it required by code or other building standards to have your studs sprayed with borate about 3 feet from the ground? My builder told me they did this, but as I was looking inside several ethernet jacks in my home, I noticed the studs next to them were not spayed green like you see with the borate treatments. However, I noticed another new house that's currently in construction in my neighborhood by the same builder got theirs sprayed.

I know my frame footing which touches the slab has pressure treated wood with borate, so I'm good there. Is it the end of the world if they didn't spray borate 3 ft up from the floor on the studs?

It appears the subject heart is protection against termites, even though this treatment also carries some wood benefits.

Here in a termite prone area, the decades popular defense was termite poison beneath & prior to concrete slab placement then trenching perimeter, poison, backfill and compact. Annual inspections thereafter with various solutions.

There is another option where they treat the soil around the slab. There is a test to confirm that this method was used. Whatever method they picked should have been confirmed during inspections.

My pre-drywall inspector was not very good. I called the pest control company that did the treatment, and they provided documentation that the borate was applied, but it may have been clear (no green dye) in some places. Not sure I totally trust them because the documentation has my address, but their sketch of the applied areas doesn't match my floor plan. Where can I get one of those tests to test the wood?
