I've been waiting on a blower motor from my trusted AC company. At first it was supposed to be in in 2 days, then that didn't happen and I was told the next Monday, then Wednesday, then Friday, then Monday, and now today I was told they will get an update tomorrow. Today is 2 weeks from the initial diagnostic and ordering.

Can any one in the AC trade clue me in on whether this is 'normal'? It is a communicating ECM motor. And a warranty claim.

Brand? Part number? Furnace/air handler model?

I've seen a few that were ridiculous lead times in the past year.

I don't have the part number, and I don't feel like crawling up to get it but the air handler is a Rheem rh2v4821mtanja.

I have another blower that I can swap out while I wait but I have a Honeywell t stat and I just don't feel like undoing 20 wires to do it. I was mostly just curious on lead times. I guess I just thought someone had a warehouse with these things sitting around. Lol.

Yeah, I don't know what the holdup is. Maybe like me they have a preferred supplier. I don't know.

Why do they need the serial programmed?

It's for if the supply house has what we call a blank motor. It's an ECM motor that can fit across many models they just have to program the motor at the store. It's a way for the supply house to stock less motors and cover more models.

The supply house I checked was the Rheem distributor for TX.

Finally got the part. Not sure what labor rates are at AC companies but I'm too cheap for mine it seems. 900 bucks is the asking price to install it. Takes 30 minutes.

Dang dude. I could charge you travel time from BCS and do it for that. Add insult to injury you've been waiting a few weeks. At our hourly rate and average conditions I'd expect that to be about $250-300 at most.

For $100 and freight I'll send you a motor and you can install it yourself!

Sounds like your number one AC guy might need to be your number five.
