Water heater leak alarms

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Just installed a new water heater from Home Depit.(. Cost 625.00, they wanted 800 to install. )My son and I installed it in about an hour - and were kinda slow workers.

Anyway, I got a water detector that emits a 100 decibel alarm but was wondering if anybody has experience using a wifi water leak detector that alerts your devices?

Or an in-line automatic shutoff valve that closes in the event it senses a leak?

Gracias.

I have a set of YoLink water sensors that I put in the water pans of my two water heaters and 2 AC units. I've tested them (with a wet napkin) and they work as described. You can setup the notifications to send an alert to your phone via text or email. My units are all in the attic and the hub is in the office and I'm able to connect to all 4 water sensors no problem. I also have two of their temperature sensors in my deep freezers and they use the same hub. The temp sensors did alert me once when someone left the freezer door cracked. You can see battery levels in the app, and you can also be notified if connection is lost.

So far these have worked fine for me.

I use Orbit B-Hyve flood sensors. Orbit B-Hyve Smart Flood Sensors

I've got them installed in the water heater pan and under various appliances prone to leaking (toilets, washer, dishwasher, sinks).

They also measure temperature which was helpful to monitor attic temps during the recent freezes.

I've installed flood stops before on both my water heaters.

There's other version out there, and it was only $125 from the local plumbing supply store. Super easy to install.

Turn off water supply valve going into the heater, then install, turn supply back on.

It sends out a loud noise that invariable only occurs around 2-3 am or when I am out of town on business and my wife says, ya it was annoying so I unplugged it…

I use mocreo sensors for water and temperature. They are Bluetooth had share a wifi bridge. They are pro level devices so cost more than typically amazon china crp. But the application notification if bulletproof

I have the govee water alarms. They hook into the wifi if you get the hub thingy and do a good job. I have 1 in each water heater and 1 in each pan under the ac units. The ones in the ac units have gone off a time or two when I splashed some water while bleaching out the drain lines. They aren't really loud enough to wake you up all the way from the attic. They do send a message to your phone and that works well.
