I need to lower the height of a bunch of sprinkler heads in my yard. They sit too high and keep getting whacked by the lawnmower unless great care is taken (my wife occasionally mows and I'm trying to get my son to do it more often and they keep taking them out).
They are 4 inch heads. I bought a bunch of 2 inch heads to replace them to accomplish lowering them, but now I am concerned that this will have a negative effect on the spray if they aren't able to pop up high enough over my Saint Augustine.
Is my concern legitimate about going from a 4 inch to a 2 inch and the nozzles not clearing the grass? If it is, is there a better way to lower the heads but still use a 4 inch body sprinkler head? So far when I have dug them up, it is not a matter of using a shorter riser. I feel like I have seen some flexible risers where you can make them into an S shape and offset them from the PVC line to adjust the height. Am I imagining those? If they do exist, are they a good option?
