So I've been having an issue and curious to hear some takes…
We just moved in to this house at the end of January. Built in 2017. A little over 3,000 square feet and 2 AC units. Lennox.
A few weeks ago we noticed the downstairs wasn't cooling. I went outside and noticed the overflow was dripping so I said screw it and shut the downstairs unit off. The next day same issue with upstairs and water was pouring out that same drain so shut that off too.
AC guy comes out. Found both drains in upstairs sinks were severely clogged so got that taken care of. Also larger AC unit was about 4 pounds low on Freon so fixed that as well. Everything seemed to be working fine……
Current issue
Both our thermostats are showing 2 degrees warmer than where we have it set during most of the day. Doesn't matter if it's set to 73 (it'll show 75) or if it's set to 78 (it'll show 80). Been doing this the past few days. It wasn't until late last night (10ish) the internal temp started matching the temp we were setting it at.
To try a little experiment with the downstairs, after getting it to 79, we would lower it one degree and wait for the inside to cool and match and just kept going. It seemed to be working until we dropped it from 76 to 75….as soon as that happened the internal temp of the downstairs thermostat jumped up to 78…..this was at 2:46 am……
On top of this issue….we timed it and the units are only staying off for roughly 4 minutes, and staying on for lord knows how long…..could be 30 minutes to an hour…..
Currently as of posting this both thermostats and reflecting temps matching what we want them to be at, but the AC hasn't shut off since I woke up at 8 am and it's likely been running for longer than that….
Any ideas?
