Thumbs up for being caught!
I will have to add this to the list of responses when people ask "how does anyone get scammed in roofing?"
I've seen all manner of contract fraud, but this is a new one....."with worms."

There is probably not much to be done to get these people their money back. Those two deadbeats aren't going to have it anymore. It's always the older folks that get scammed. Many of them still do deals on handshakes and they trust people at their word, and unfortunately, that's not the world we live in anymore.
I almost got scammed trying to buy a Billy Cook roping saddle for my son, and had I not checked the serial against the manufacturer, I'd have bought it for Billy Cook pricing. I'm a born skeptic, too. Has anyone else gotten scammed or almost gotten scammed on anything?
