Just want to run my plan by y'all to make sure I've got my head on straight.
Just closed on a house and am planning to redo the master vanity before move-in. Current Vanity is 72" with double sinks. There is a linen closet to the left of the vanity that I plan to remove so we can install a larger vanity (105"). We just purchased the cabinets yesterday and I didn't think about it until afterwards, but the left side sink will be sliding over approximately 30" from where it is now, which means I will need to redo the drain line.
Unfortunately the cabinets we chose have drawers where the drain line currently sits, so I am imagining that I will have to re-route through the wall, which is an exterior wall (and presumably 2x4 framing - I haven't opened it up yet).
From doing research on code, it seems like I can't drill through consecutive load bearing studs. It seems that there is an exception if one uses a stud shoe. I'm anticipating having to go through 1-2 studs depending on where they are located. Can anyone here see issues with just drilling the studs and then adding stud shoes to them around the pipe? Thanks!
