As you have figured out, we are redoing the master bathroom (am I allowed to say that?).

Got the Delta Shower Head as recommended by some of you.

Wifey decided to replace the toilet because you know, if we're replacing the whole bathroom then it includes the toilet.

So, recommendations? 100, 200, 500, 1000 dollar toilet? Does it really make a lot of difference? We kept the bidet seat the last one had. Really liked it. Wifey said it made doing my laundry a bit nicer for her - but let's not go into that…

I'm 6'4 so I would like a taller seat. Other than that I know nothing.

Costco has a nice tall Kohler for 199.00. Lowe's has one for 260.00 but on sale for 220.00?

Thanks Ags.

PS. Now she wants to put a toe-heater in her vanity. Is that even a thing? Geez, it's not like we live in Alaska.
What say you about toe- heaters?

We went with a Woodbridge model because we wanted a modern look. Works like it's supposed to.

EDIT: If we had thought ahead, we would have gotten wall mounted toilets the the tank behind the wall. Oh well. Next time.

Absolutely do this. You will wonder why you didn't do it years ago.

So does Rosanna, Rosanna.

Now that that's over, get as tall as you can. Now when I go to a hotel, it feels like I'm squatting on a bucket. I'm not even close to 6'4".

Tall toilet, oblong bowl and soft close lid.

We decked the house with American Standard Cadet II from HD and they have been fine 3 years in. They were in the 2-3 hundred range, I believe.

American Standard Titan. Tall and elongated seat rather than round to accommodate male genitalia

Tell her if she wants a toe heater, you'll join her naked under a blanket and give her all the heat she wants.

We put in a Toto Drake 2, I wanted a $140 special, but wife heard good things. It has been amazing, zero clogs, stays way cleaner and comfort height for my 6'4" self as well. 100% glad I didn't cheap out here.

soft close lid.

Word of warning; after replacing all our toilets in the house with soft close, now, when I go over to a friends or familys house, their lid gets dropped and slams shut lol.

Hard habit to break once you have it for a while.

I was thinking in our next house of going with all 1-piece toilets, to eliminate the need to replace rusted screws and deteriorated rubber washers and gaskets between the tank and bowl.

But, I know nothing about 1-piece toilets. Any comments about them?

In my 25 years of living on my own, I've never once replaced a screw or washer/gasket on a toilet.

Is this really a common maintenance item for a homeowner?

Whenever I have to replace the other stuff (flapper, ballcock, fill-valve), then invariably I notice that the washers under the screws are dissolving, so I replace those then too, which requires draining the tank and I figure I might as well replace the gasket between tank and bowl at the same time.

The heads of the brass-plated screws are usually rusting so I replace them too. I need to find a way, next time, to cover the screwdriver tip with tape or something when tightening the new screws because I think a slight nick in the screw-head slot triggers the rust. Usually, I'm just tired by that point and don't bother to try to prevent a scratch in the screw head slot.

I probably do this around every 7-8 years.

ETA: I'm older and wealthier now so maybe next time I'll just call a plumber. But, a 1-piece toilet would eliminate some of that maintenance.

Drive to Louisiana and buy one there since they don't have the ridiculous water restrictions that we have in Texas. I also really like Toto but the last one I bought has only 1 gallon per flush and it's just barely inadequate and it has proved to be lacking the morning after a Pappacitos dinner.

Buy the one Randy Marsh did. You won't regret it.
