I'm sure this has been asked before, so apologies...

Had a Katy company out on Wednesday to check my 1990's home to see if we could use added insulation.

He basically recommended 2 solar fans and 6" of insulation and quoted about 7k.

I have used this company before for AC stuff and whatnot and have always found them reasonable. And maybe these fans are awesome and needed. I dont mind the cost if we will see better cooling and maybe lower electrical bills.

Does all this sound reasonable? Is that quote accurate for what this costs?

Home is one story, 2800sqft.

Thanks yall

Do you have any venting on the house now ?
Ridge ? Turbine ? Vent boxes

Do you have soffit vents in your eaves ?

What depth is your current insulation in the attic ?

EZ answers (Aggieland)
R-38 "certified" min. in attic (I prefer mineral wool in humid areas = within 175mi of ocean)
vented only by
Ridge vents as continuous as possible
Soffit continuous vents

Solar venting has not been a good payback - if any at all but better than whirlybirds
where NO ridge venting is possible but wait
Jack rafter ridge venting IS an option these days and better than single hole venting as mentioned

Afraid you got the SOP quick cash no sweat offer that benefits HIM more than YOU
