Anyone have a recent estimate on small concrete work? Potentially looking at a 250-300 sq ft pad for a shed project in Pearland.

I am looking to do the same. I have been quoted 8.5-9.5 per square foot.

I contacted a few from this thread, still deciding who to go with.

If there are any grade beams proposed, please describe to glean prices more akin to your project as these are major cost contributors

This is a simple shed pad. Only real decision is free-standing vs lean-to on the back of the garage.

You should be safe with a budget of $10/sqft paid by check. Slightly less if you pay cash.
Your best bet is to drive by some of the production home builder communities near by and try to catch crews pouring driveways and hire one of them to knock this out after they finish the big stuff for the day.
Also, make sure you put a thin expansion joint/isolation joint foam/asphalt strip between existing garage/slab and new concrete for expansion during summer/winter etc.
Also, it's probably worth your trouble to thicken the perimeter edges to ~8" to 10" to prevent any drainage undermining of the edges. At this size the added concrete should be negligible and if the installer gives you a bunch of grief about it just tell him youll take a narrow shovel and hand tamp it yourself.

I agree here

300 sq ft sounds more like a garage than a shed. Even on a 10x10 shed I use a perimeter beam as that is carrying all of your structure weight.

TLM, JP, thanks for the insight - I hadn't thought about that. I'll be sure to include it in my estimates.

Also, just for your informational purposes street price Concrete shouldn't be any more than $130 a yard right now so the 300 ft. at roughly 5 inches will be almost 5 yards once you add a little bit turn down 6 yards about us low as you can go on an order without it being considered a small load so I would figure 6 yards

That puts your Concrete cost around $800 or $2.65/sqft without factoring in any other materials or labor.
I would guess no one will take the job for less than about 750 bucks so between profit and materials you're about halfway to your nine to $10 per square foot price

I just poured a 7x5 small porch addition. My cost with me buying all materials was $23.71 a square foot. This was mixed on site using 2040 lbs of quikrete. 5 inches thick with perimeter beams and doweled into existing slab. I could be off but I think on something this small you are looking at 15-20 a square ft depending on location, dirt work and what kind of access they have to the pour. Let us know what you end up getting it done for

You get me ~$25/sqft on 300 sqft, I quit my job and come work for you right now!

he's buying bags of quikrete.. not a truck delivered.

Big difference in economies of scale there.

You get me 35 sq ft poured in a back yard for $350 and I can keep you busy forever

Sadly, I'm not a good enough salesman for either of those tasks.
