Howdy! We had our dishwasher and washing machine stop operating as they usually do on the 16th of this month. I think that was the day it dipped below 32 in Houston. All faucets and showers have continued working just fine, but the dishwasher only fills up the bottom and never washes the dishes. The WM adds too little water to wash the clothes. I've cleaned every working part inside the dishwasher, I've cleaned out the waste line to the disposal. I've flushed the house's pipes and refilled it. The water heater was flushed last month.

My hope is that the city's water pressure is still struggling w the freeze and that this is the culprit. Any other ideas? Just so weird that they both went on the same day. Another hypothesis is sediment in the valves. Just odd that it wouldn't have affected the faucets at all.

Any help is appreciated greatly.

Maybe it's just their time of the month?

For the washing machine, remove the inlet hoses from the back and remove then clean the inlet filters

Flush the fill lines into a bucket once they are off then follow steps in video

Took the inlets off last night. Tons of sediment in the cold water line. Going to give the washer a try today. Gonna check the inlet for the dishwasher, too. Thanks a ton.

Water softener or no? Had a water softener issue that put the media into some of my lines and it started with the kitchen sink first and then to the washing machine. That stuff is hard to see unless you are looking for it or can put it in a white bucket with the water, then some toilets, then the guest shower.

Hopefully the sediment is the trick.

Sediment was the trick for the washing machine. Thanks a ton.

Checked the intake for the dishwasher and had no luck. Still working on it. Seems like the appliance gets water, but then fails to pump it into the arms. May try replacing the pump.

It ended up being the circulation pump. $80 on Amazon and it was here the next day. Thanks everyone. Huge help.
