In need of a black, electric, 30" cooktop with built in downdraft to replace a broken one before I sell my house. All of my options seem to be $2500+, anyone have luck with a specific discount retailers that I'm not thinking of?

If you have a good local appliance store, sometimes they'll have scratch & dent / return / builder orders that cancelled. I've had good luck with mine when not super picky.

I don't know how discount this is, but call Jordan's of Edom. It's about 25 miles west of Tyler(64 and 314 about 10 miles south of I20). Their tax rate is only 6.25% and you can purchase and pick up directly from the manufacturers distribution site. In our case, we purchased and picked up at the big Whirpool distribution hub on 45 south of Dallas. We saved $300 or so on an oven.
Don't know if that is what you are looking for, but they can also point you in a better direction if they know one.

Not exactly discount, but try Pressers. They are out of the northeast but offer free delivery and no tax for out of state. Or, that was the deal 3 years ago when we bought our fridge from them.

You could talk to your realtor and list the house with the broken appliance and take some money off the cost of the house. That way the new buyer can install something nice instead of you installing something cheap that works. The house I bought a few years ago did that with the AC unit. We knew it was broken when we bought the house, but could pick the quality of the new unit.

or lose the downdraft, install a wall or hood vent with any savings

Bought our last appliance (gas range and oven) from Lowe's open box area. Had one minor dent, got it for 65% off. HD has a similar section. You can negotiate with the mangers.

I've been successful with this route as well.
