Ceiling fan light kit trouble shooting

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I have a ceiling fan that has a light kit installed. It has worked fine for a few years, but recently the light is now working along with the fan.

There is 1 pull chain for the fan and 1 for the lights. If I have the ceiling fan on high, the lights are bright and normal. If I pull the chain on the fan, the lights begin to dim along with the slowing fan. Once the fan is off, the light is completely out. If I then turn the fan back on with the pull chain, the light comes back on.

I'm perplexed as to how this could happen. Do I just need to replace the fan?

Do you have separate wall switches for fan and light power, or are they combined into one switch?

Somehow the wires have gotten crossed inside. What used to be 2 dedicated hots have somehow become 1 hot and 1 unused? I would replace that asap just due to the possible fire hazard imo.

I found the issue. Took apart the ceiling fan and had a melted connection. Just replaced it. Thank you for the help!
