Obviously it's you and your wife's house but it would be a shame to cover it up. Maybe a lime wash? It could at least be removed more easily.

I don't like the idea of taking a permanent finish product and covering it up with paint that will have to be redone... I'm sure aware of all that though. You could at least use mineral paint and get 20 years out of it.

So now that the entire house envelope was redone since the 2021 storm, how big of a difference in heating run time, hot spots/cold spots, etc. did this remodel make?

It's been a big difference. House staying comfortable and furnace not running as much. Still a cold spot by my back door into the living room because it's an old door with two big sidelites. I will try to replace that at some point. It is still like ten degrees outside though. There is a long run from my furnace on one side of the house to the laundry room and bathroom on the other side of the house and that area doesn't get much airflow unfortunately. But nothing to do with insulation/enclosure obviously. Overall very pleased.

Honestly maybe the biggest thing I've been struck by is how quiet the house is now. I live close to 635, Plano Rd. on probably the busiest street in my neighborhood but I barely hear any traffic noise now. It's been very nice.

You concerned at all that your insurance has a problem with you removing the brick?

I think the month is a good idea. We'll see what happens.

No, haven't thought about that at all honestly.

Got my blower door test this morning. Just on the verge of needing to bring in outside air.

Who did the test for you?

A guy named Jay from Fox Energy.

Some updated pics. Masons came back and finished (with a different color brick meaning the house will be painted) and I had my HVAC guy install an outside air damper.
