AC Drain Line Condensation

The drain line on one of my AC units was clogged and while I was in the attic fixing it I checked my other unit and saw that the drain line for the other unit had a significant amount of condensation on it and the line was cold to the touch. The line is not over the pan.

Is the solution for this simply wrapping the pipe in insulation? Is this due to water sitting in the pipe, or will any cool draining water generally cause this? This is also the first time I have seen a trap sort of setup on an AC drain. I'm going to hit the pipe with a bunch of bleach to clean it out in case of a partial clog causing cool water to sit.

Anyways, here's a photo. Sorry for the blurriness, I cracked the glass over my phones camera.

Normal for the condensate pipe to feel cold. ACs put out a ton of cold water when they are running hard. Good idea to periodically clean the drain so it does not back up, but would recommend vinegar instead of bleach.

Yea Roger i get that ive just never had condensation running off of the pipe. The framing under the pipe was soaked as was the insulation I moved off of it. That can't be a good thing.

You can wrap your condensate line to mitigate

Right I figured that would be the most basic course of action but was not certain if it would be the final solution. Thanks.

That seems excessive. My condensate pipe sweats a lot too, but my hot ass attic seems to evaporate it before too long.

Ran into this a few weeks ago. Not fun having to change that while is was 100 degrees outside. Worth doing it myself compared to what they were wanting to charge to replace it. My old pipe was insulated so I did it with the new one as well.
