OP, I see a lot of operable windows, other than for egress maybe make a few of those fixed to save a couple bucks.

I have as many as possible fixed. 2 kids' rooms and guest room each have two windows.

I used best buy windows and siding in Dallas, they have thousands of reviews. I paid like 10K for my whole house around 22 windows I think.

Call Mike with cambridge doors and windows. They source an aluminum double pane out of Dallas that I think works well (my thing is going with a manufacturer that understands your climate). They're beautiful on our house and glad we went with them. Mike is super easy going.

Were you specifically wanting composite? If you're good with vinyl, we used Window World twice, current house and previous house. We just got 17 windows installed earlier this year for about half the price of yours. They look great and keep out the heat very well. Check them out for a quote.

I'm currently looking into replacing the glass in my vinyl frames. Since I don't have any leaks I don't think I want them ripping out all the frames

I don't blame you, it was pretty violent when they removed the windows. I had to go back and touch up pain, chalk and such.

I wonder how much efficiency difference it makes to just replace glass (and not have "gas sealed" windows) vs. having the whole window replaced.

Probably not a ton...and certainly not enough to justify the additional costs.

We had 24 windows replaced and four new doors including a set of French doors with NT Windows in Arlington for $23,000. Very pleased with the price and product. That was five years ago though. I would think you're looking at at least $30,000 today.

My understanding, so far, is the replacement glass will be double paned, low E and I believe gas filled

Paid 25000 for showcase impact in 2019.

Edit to add 2400 sq ft with lots of windows.

32 vinyl windows. 1 we went with giant single pane instead of 2 individuals. $7300

No name windows but pretty sure they came from a place in Houston called Trophy Windows. Used a local guy that was recommended by others in our hood. 2yrs and no complaints.

I'm sure there are better windows but for the price I couldn't argue bc they're way better than 20 year old single pane aluminum

That price is about right for composite casement windows. Go single hung vinyl windows if you're looking for a better bang for your buck.

Sell all your possesions and you might afford Windows by Anderson!

Give Randy Swearingen with Ultra Windows a call. I used him a while back and his guys were pretty good. It'd at least give you a comparison point.

I used Randy/Ultra at my last house and quoted them when I replaced my windows at our new place last year. They were highly recommended. However, they are expensive IMO. Their recent quote was so high I had to go with another option even though I liked their work on the previous job (and they handled warranty work very well).

Had a window company out yesterday for a site survey and quote. 38 single hung, vinyl windows for 28k. Compared to a competitive quote from last year, about 25% cheaper.
